Honey in a jar.
Trost macht Spaß!

Real honey from Marzahn-Hellersdorf — from my bees between the Gardens of the World and the acacias of Biesdorf. Raw, unblended, straight from the beekeeper.

What the bees are collecting right now

A small apiary with honest quantities: every harvest is limited and tastes of its season. Cold-extracted, never heated, never blended.

The Apiary

Between Gardens of the World & Acacias

My colonies are located in Biesdorf — where Berlin is green. Allotment gardens, old avenues, the Wuhletal green corridor and the Gardens of the World provide a nectar flow from March to August that exists only here.

I work close to the bees' nature and on a small scale: few colonies, lots of attention. The honey is cold-extracted, coarsely sieved and filled straight into the jar. Nothing is heated, blended or imported.

  • 100 % from Berlin-Biesdorf — nothing bought in
  • Cold-extracted & raw
  • Small batches, every jar traceable
  • Treated only with organic acids — no chemicals

About Me

Vitaly Trost, Hobby Beekeeper

What began as curiosity about a single bee colony is now my greatest passion. I document my journey as a beekeeper from the very beginning — honestly, transparently and with all the mistakes that come with it.

"Trost macht Spaß" (Trost is fun) is more than a play on my surname: good food from your own neighbourhood is a small everyday comfort. If you like, come and watch me work with the colonies — just call.

Good to Know

Why honey from the beekeeper next door?

Short Distances

From the hive to your jar it's just a few hundred metres here — not thousands of kilometres.

Full Transparency

You know who makes your honey, where the colonies are and what's inside: honey. Nothing else.

Living Urban Nature

Every jar supports the pollination of gardens, balconies and fruit trees in Marzahn-Hellersdorf.

Honest Taste

Raw honey crystallises, has a fragrance and tastes different every year — that's exactly how you recognise it.

Questions & Answers

Frequently Asked Questions

My honey has turned solid — has it gone bad?

Quite the opposite: crystallisation is the seal of quality of raw honey. In a water bath at around 40 °C it becomes liquid again without losing any enzymes.

How do I store honey properly?

Dark, dry and at room temperature. Well sealed, honey keeps practically forever — it's the only food that doesn't spoil.

Can you ship the honey?

Currently I sell from my doorstep in Biesdorf — that keeps the price fair and the jar reaches you without a mountain of packaging. Just call and we'll arrange a time.

From what age can children eat honey?

From their first birthday. Raw honey — from any beekeeper — is not suitable for infants under twelve months.

How much does a jar cost?

Prices depend on the variety and harvest volume — hobby beekeeping means small, honest quantities. Current prices by phone.
